Birr Open Week (Mon 5th to Sun 11th August)

Birr has a wonderful rhythm to it - thanks to the rolling eskers that many of the holes tumble over. Not long but lots of fun.

Celebrating their centenary, Edenderry is a pleasant country parkland, with tree-lined borders, water-infested ditches and a mirror image 9th and 18th.

A grey day on Edenderry's 6th

Naas Open Week (Fri 2nd to Sun 11th August)

An interesting range of events... and an even more interesting number of holes for some of these events (including 10, 12 and 18 holes!). Visitor green fees vary from €10 to €20. Follow this link to check competitions and availability on a parkland that is badly under-appreciated, just a 20 minute drive from Dublin. Some cracking holes, including the 1st.

Spa Open Week (Sat 3rd to Sat 10th August)

Spa Golf Club is a bit of a hidden gem in County Down. Plenty of shape and rhythm, and lots of trees to get tangled up in. A good length too, at 6,500+ yards, so very manageable for players of all ability. What I remember most are the par threes - the 2nd especially.
