Royal Portrush - 2 new holes

Here's a map showing where the two new holes at Royal Portrush will be constructed in the coming months. With planning permission granted, it's all systems go for the Dunluce links... which is still anticipating the formal announcement that it will host the Open Championship in 2019, later this summer.

The new holes (7 and 8) will be routed over a lovely bit of links terrain that sits down in a valley, between the dunes.... and that, perhaps, is the only negative of these new holes, as they will take two of the Valley course's best holes out of play. The Valley may only be the 'second' course, but it is a cracker in its own right.
Map of the course, as it will become.
Then again, given the opportunity to host The Open, any club would jump at the chance.

become the Dunluce's new 7th and 8th.

A very good article by Brian Keogh, of IrishGolfDesk.com, on the current state of play at Royal Portrush.
