Try a touch of Macreddin Magic... on me

The short par four 6th
If you've previously visited this blog then you'll know I'm a rather large fan of Macreddin Golf Club. It's a magical course tucked away in a valley and... well... you've heard it all before. If you need any convincing, take a look at the photos I've shot of the course... then tell me you're not impressed by what Paul McGinley created.

And this is a chance for you to play the

Who wants to take on The Island? GM Required

The straight but very tough par four 18th.
The Island Golf Club found themselves down a General Manager recently when the effervescent Maurice O'Meara took on a similar role at Dooks Golf Club. Before The Island he was at Killarney Golf & Fishing Club, so, based on his geographical yoyo-ing, the chances are he'll be back on the east coast before long.

That leaves The Island Golf Club in search of a new GM... is that you? Can

The Island Goes Naked

Approach to short par four 5th - one of the best fairways anywhere
When was the last time you saw a naked man on the golf course?

I’m guessing you don’t have to give that too much thought.

At The Island Golf Club, north of Dublin City, there is a beach just over the dunes to the right of the 3rd hole. It is out of sight and this is where nude sunbathers – mostly older men – come to

Irish Golfer Magazine - Ireland's New Hot Shot

You’ve probably already heard but there’s a new Irish golf magazine on the shelves… and in golf clubs… and online.  The 5th issue of Irish Golfer Magazine has just been published, with Paul Dunne pictured on the front.

And that front cover image says everything you need to know because

The Endless European & The Longest Putt Ever

Views back down the 16th (tee to the left)
There's a part of me that says if you're going to play The European Club, at Brittas Bay, you should be doing it with a Frenchman, a German and an Englishman... but I guess a Scot and a Northern Irishman are more than sufficient.

This is the links that Pat built. That's Pat Ruddy, in case you've been living under

12 Top Tips for Golfing in Ireland

The par three 2nd hole on Carne's Kilmore nine.
I have been asked (and honoured) to write the blog for Carne Golf Links, this year. The website is getting a revamp and the blog is going to play a bigger part in their marketing efforts. I've written a few already, but one of the most enjoyable so far is a 'top tips' on how to plan the perfect golfing vacation to Ireland (or anywhere, for that matter).

I ended up writing enough to fill two blogs. Take a look and if I've missed out any important stuff please let me know.

Approach to the par four 8th on the original Hackett 18.
It's a course like no other and my number one in the country. If you've never played it then add it to your bucket list and discover the joys of an Irish golf course that will throw you into the biggest golfing dunes on earth.

Neil O'Briain Ties Second at PGA Assistants' Championship

Ireland's Neil O'Briain fired a final round 69 to snatch a share of second place in the Galvin Green PGA Assistants' Championship at Coventry Golf Club.

The Old Conna Golf Club assistant, who finished fourth last year, shared runners up spot with former European Tour player David Griffiths behind champion Jack Harrison.

O'Briain admitted he was disappointed to miss out on the £5,000 but Wildwood Golf and

GUI Searches for a CEO

Maybe the GUI would be unhappy with me for saying that - on occasion - they are slow to react to the evolving needs of Irish golf and golfers. Or maybe they'd simply ask: 'Kevin who?'

Either way, the Golfing Union of Ireland are now looking for a CEO who will strengthen the organisation's leadership and direction. This can only be a good thing. And, by employing someone from outside the organisation (I hope), an injection of fresh ideas and attitudes will see the GUI take some important steps forward. Here's the official blurb and job requirements:

Want a Shot at Being the Next Paul Dunne? Simply Golf

Paul Dunne achieved a lot for himself and Irish golf at the Open Championship, a couple of weeks back. He has, undoubtedly, inspired a generation of young golfers who have seen what can be achieved, not just by a young Irishman but also by an amateur who didn’t
