For some it might seem a coincidence, for
others simply fortuitous, but Tullamore Golf Club and the world-renowned

Such coincidences are common in Scotland, but in the centre of Ireland it is
far less frequent. Perhaps that is why Irish whiskey, unlike Scottish

Doonbeg - A New Beginning
Tee shot off the 1st at Doonbeg |
“Are you OK? Have you fallen into a
bunker?”
It was a Direct Message I received on
Twitter, around 1pm last Thursday. It took a moment to understand the reason for
the question but it dawned on me soon enough. I was playing Trump Doonbeg and
I’d decided to photograph every hole on my

The Carr Golf 100... Job Alert at Waterville
Not much need to explain this one... it's all in the post that Carr Golf put up on June 12th on their Facebook page.
Here it is:
And here's a completely gratuitous shot of Waterville Golf Links. Some of the darkest clouds I've ever seen.

Curtis Cup Comes to a Close, 2016
The Curtis Cup has come to an end with a fantastic GB&I victory over America, at Dun Laoghaire Golf Club. The final score was 11.5 to 8.5, even though the Americans won the final day singles 4.5 to 3.5.
One of the greatest results of all was Bronte Law's victory over Mika Liu, which saw her taking all five points from her five matches. She is the first GB&I player to achieve this feat... and only the second in the event's history, after Stacey Lewis achieved the same result at St. Andrew's in 2008.
You'll find details of the final day's play on the LGU website. Check out the dozen or so photos from today's

Curtis Cup 2016, Green Lamb... and slow play penalties
It’s the final day of the 2016 Curtis Cup, when the Americans will be
looking to overcome an 8-4 deficit against the GB & Ireland team at Dun
Laoghaire Golf Club. A penalty for slow play was a kick in th eteeth for the
Americans, but there have been complaints of slow play on both days. It was
actually highly satisfying to see a penalty being implemented… whichever team
it was applied to!
There are enough young fans at the event who need to see
that slow play is not tolerated. Now, if only the golfing bodies had the balls
to do that on the major tours.
‘Looking good
girls!
But this is not a blog about negative things – rather it is a good news
story for Irish golf and sportswear brand Green Lamb which is the official
clothing supplier to the 2016 GB & Ireland Team.

“For a long time now we have been associated with the Curtis Cup and
Ladies Golf Union, but 2016 sees the matches being played on Green Lamb’s home
turf, in Ireland, and for that we’re extra proud to dress the girls. It’s an
honour for us and we wish both teams very well for the weekend. Here’s hoping
for a home victory!”
Views over Dun Laoghaire Golf Club |
The event showcases the very best eight female amateurs from USA vs.
Great Britain & Ireland. This is
only the second time the event has been held in Ireland: in 1996, Great Britain
& Ireland posted an 11½-6½ win at Killarney
Golf & Fishing Club.
Green Lamb brand ambassador and supermodel Jodie Kidd has been keen to
show her support for the team, commenting recently on the team’s practise day
clothing, she remarked: ‘Looking good girls!’
You can still get along to Dun Laoghaire Golf Club, outside Enniskerry,
today to see the final matches (tee times between 10am and 11.10am). Tickets
are available at the gate.

Golf Open Weeks Ireland 2016: Batch 1
Look around you. Whether you’re on the bus,
at your office or in a coffee shop, chances are there’s someone nearby who is
burning red and trying not to smile for fear of the pain. Sales of barbecues
sky-rocketed over the Bank Holiday weekend, while petrol stations and
newsagents struggled to keep up with the non-stop demand for 99s.
Yes, summer* has arrived and for golfers
around the country that means Open Week

Rathsallagh Resurrected... in Golf Photos
Rathsallagh Golf Club, in Co. Wicklow, closed 'for good' last year. Cue much gnashing of teeth... in this household anyway. And then came word that the course had been purchased and was going to re-open. Cue much work, cutting of hay, revitalising of bunkers and greens, and the search for members.
Turns out they didn't have to look far! The course re-opens today, Wednesday 1st June. The green fee today is €16. Usual green fees will be €35-€40. Their Open Week is August 20th-28th. Their website is www.rathsallaghgolf.com
