For many of us, the golf season hasn’t yet
kicked in. The days are still too short, the frost, the temporary greens, the
rain, the placing, the day of the week. Yes, fairweather golfers find any old
excuse to avoid a round of golf. Bizarre, isn’t it when we claim to love this
game of ours so much.
Well, stay in hibernation if you like but
there is something in the near future which should send a shiver
of pleasure
down your spine… and that’s the Irish Golf Expo, which is coming to Dublin’s
Citywest on February 25th and 26th. That's a Saturday and Sunday and the parking is free.
It’s great to see this two-day event coming
to Dublin and anyone who loves golf will find something to enjoy. Start with
the obvious: Shane Lowry’s going to be in attendance and there will be a
special Q&A with him; everyone who buys a ticket through the website
will receive a free green fee courtesy of GolfNow. (Personally, I'd suggest either of the two courses shown on this blog.) Consider that entry for one to the event costs €15 and you’ll see there’s a bit of a bargain there! Kids under 16 go free, too!

The aim of the event is to promote golf
participation in Ireland and provide golf enthusiasts with a chance to get up
close and personal with the latest equipment, gadgets and golf accessories. There
will be a dedicated driving range where you can try out the latest clubs, a special
Kids’ Golf Zone, trick shot shows, all the major retailers presenting their
wares, golf travel… the list goes on. Check out the Irish Golf Expo website to see what’s what.
Buy a single ticket, buy a family pass... and enjoy a great day out.
One final thought… there’s a €10,000 ‘Ultimate Fourball Prize’ up for grabs.
